Downtown Eastside Neighbourhood House

Our mission is to provide opportunities for residents to meaningfully engage with and contribute to their community in an equitable atmosphere of sharing and learning.

Those who built the DTES NH put the Right to Food at the heart of our work, as nutritional vulnerability was a theme familiar to all. Our goal around the Right to Food is to reform the nutritional impact, quality, abundance and delivery of food in the DTES in consultation with residents, community food providers, non‐food community organizations, healthcare professionals, policy makers, growers/suppliers, food/beverage industry professionals and researchers.

Come volunteer with us: at Drop-In programs, with children & youth, outreach, or on our Board of Directors. Check out our open volunteer roles here: https://www.volunteerconnector.org/vancouver/downtown-eastside-neighbourhood-house

Vancouver Food Runners for Weekly Food Deliveries in Burnaby

We’re currently looking for volunteers to support several weekly food rescue routes in Burnaby, helping move healthy food from local businesses directly to nearby nonprofit organizations.

Volunteering with VFR is a simple, flexible, and high-impact way to support your local community. Most rescues take about an hour, fit easily into weekly routines, and make an immediate difference by helping ensure good food reaches community food programs instead of going to waste.

These routes are also a great opportunity to build connections with local food donors, nonprofit partners, and the broader community. Some rescues require a larger vehicle due to higher-volume pickups, and volunteers can always request a substitute through the app if they are away or unavailable.  Contact: kelsey@vancouverfoodrunners.com

Vancouver Urban Food Forest Foundation

An invitation for you. VUFFF is seeking volunteers to participate in our collective stewardship efforts in meaningful, on-going ways this Fall season.

These land-based volunteer roles are another layer for participation and engagement, so folks can get to know the food forest gardens (and each other) in a slow, intentional, supported way this Fall—while contributing to VUFFF’s collective stewardship efforts.

We hope this will support people in their desires to be more engaged with local community through VUFFF, while also providing some structure for intentional, ongoing learning journeys. Many people come to VUFFF because they want to learn more about caring for native plants!

                                                               Apply through this form.
